Case Study : Max Clements / Bare Root Roses

“Bare Root Roses is the creative space of Maxine Clements, an artist living in rural Suffolk. Inspired by life, love, landscapes, sex, illness, recovery, bodies, nature, birth, the universe; Max creates multidimensional artworks that pose metaphysical questions. The overlapping lines and colour planes reflect time passing as new phases of life emerge”

Brief :

Artist statement, professional development advice, e-commerce website & online portfolio.

Maxine Clements asked me to help get her new series of oil paintings and ink drawings online. Following a 10 year hiatus, Maxine has started making art again from the studio at bottom of her garden in rural Suffolk. After some in-depth discussions about her work, her inspiration and the key aims for her creative business, we started building a simple website to act as a portfolio.

The brief was that it needed to be easy to use, clean, simple, elegant and together we came up with this : barerootroses.co.uk

For me, the most enjoyable part of the project was delving into the concepts behind the work to develop a simple artists statement.
